Choosing the right Rock Speaker for the right job can be confusing.
We’ve put together some answers to questions asked by phone inquiries to help you make a selection you’ll be happy with.
1) Industrial, Standard or
Commercial?
Industrial, Standard or Commercial?
Look at these as Good, Better and Best. Speaker and sound quality increase as you go up.
Industrial Models (6 1/2” Speakers Only)
The Industrial models (“Good”) use a 100 watt DuoCone speaker, and don’t offer overpower-protection or equalization. An economical solution to great sound by the spa, small pool, balcony, small garden or on the patio.
Standard Models (“Better”)
These utilize a 125 watt, 2-way speaker. Sensitivity is increased by 1db, producing richer tones and presence. Better for medium sized areas, including pools, spas and tennis courts.
Commercial Models (“Best”)
These utilize the best speakers we offer and are rated best in overall quality and performance. Sensitivity is 2db higher than the Standard models while the 8” speaker is 4db higher than the 6 1/2” Standard models. The higher the db, the better the sound quality.
8” or 6 1/2” Speaker?
Our 8” speakers offer greater overall sound performance than the 6 1/2” models and have a 2db higher sensitivity rating. They were designed for use in large areas, such as pool areas and large yards, theme parks, hotels, and the listener who requires the best in sound quality.
The 6 1/2” models disperse less sound because they are smaller, but sound quality is by no means sacrificed. Perfect for patio, hot tub, small pools, small gardens and balconies.
Do I Really Need the Commercial Model?
Our Commercial models will handle up to a maximum of 250 watts of power. This rating has no bearing on the number of watts that your amplifier puts out in relation to sound quality. Many people assume that this is more speaker than they need. Actually, these models put out 2db more in sensitivity than our other models, producing high quality sound and since they only require 15 watts to drive, they will work with almost any amplifier. Most people will never use outputs even close to 250 watts (your neighbors will think you are holding a rock concert), but will benefit from the higher quality sound it produces. Commercial models are used in theme parks such as DisneyWorld, Universal Studios--also in zoos, amusement parks, restaurants and hotels all over the world. They have each made StereoStone products their premier sound system.
How Do I Hook Them Up?
Each Rock, except Palos Verdes In-Wall Speaker, has a weather-proof terminal junction cup that makes hook up easy. Complete instructions are in the box. This water tight connection will make the Rock totally weatherproof.
What is SoundStealth?
SoundStealth is a technology that completely hides the speaker holes, normally visible in our other models. This makes them virtually indistinguishable from a real rock. This technology does not affect the quality of the sound and you’ll have friends asking where the sound is coming from! Note that these are only available in the smooth finish River Rock Gray or River Rock Brown.
How Soon Do You Ship?
Orders received before 11 am Pacific Time will generally ship the same day, otherwise will ship the next business day. Shipping is delayed by 2-3 days for models ordered in Black Lava. Shipping by UPS Ground is always free to anywhere in the continental US.
